Introducing: Long Play 🎧

My initial exposure to music came in the form of listening to the same 46:21 of the Beach Boy's Endless Summer album, on repeat from beginning-to-end, in my parent's 1980's rec-room when I was seven years of age.

Since then, listening to music has only felt truly rewarding when spending time with a single album. Giving it my full attention, and appreciating the beauty within individual tracks and in the relationship from one to the next, there's something to be said about the hour long experience of listening to a complete album versus hearing a single song played on its own without the necessary context that makes it whole.

In recent years, with the proliferation of streaming services and robot-made playlist-after-playlist, I've lost touch with listening to music how it was meant to be heard. I've missed revisiting the artists & albums from the decades that have past, and the chance encounters that lead to new relationships with artists that I didn't know existed.

With a goal to help me re-connect to the music I've previously loved while discovering new music for my ears— long play 🎧 is a music experience sub-blog.
